Little boy Ben
Big sister Jane reached late last night,
Mummy & Daddy had started a fight,
Little boy Ben invisible to them,
Shank back to his bedroom beside the den.
He lay awake in his bed that night,
Curled up with his pillow tight,
The shadows that come creeping up,
Under the door,
Out of the night,
He clutch's his blanket,
& shuts his eyes tight,
The shouting & screaming pierced through the night,
Mummy was crying,
Daddy said he was right,
Big sister Jane was screaming with all her might,
The shadows came closer,
Creeping up to him,
One whispered,
'I don't usually eat thin.'
He trembled in fear,
pleading for help,
Then, he remembered,
what his teacher had said,
God see's everything, & he will save you today
Little boy Ben squeezed his eyes shut,
Counted to 10 and made his mark,
He clenched his fists till they were red and sore,
& everything came our like a roar.
When I am afraid I will trust in You,
I will trust in You,
I will trust in You,
When I am afraid I will trust in You,
I will trust in You,
I will trust in You.
& they faded away out of sight,
Out of the door,
Out into the night.
